Miss Kylee

So I've been worried about this cough Ky has had for about.....well forever it seems like. Anyways, Casey and I finally took her to a DR. before Thanksgiving. He said it sounded like she had an upper respiratory infection and it might be asthma! Sooooo he referred us to a breathing specialist to find out for sure. Friday the 5th I took Kylee out of school early to go to this DR., she was very nice and thorough, but she is from Salt Lake and only comes down once a month, so of course the test they wanted to do to measure her lung capacity couldn't be done, because the girl who does them wasn't in the office that day! She ran a couple of other tests, asked Ky a bunch of questions and then listened to her breathe normally, then made her breathe like she had been running. After all that she determined that Ky has a "slight" case of asthma! A slight case, I guess is better than full blown asthma, we do have to have her on a "puffer" twice in the morning and twice in the evening, plus she has an emergancy puffer incase she starts to feel like she can't breathe! Again, at least it is a mild case.

The DR also wanted her tested for allergies, which of course any of you who have kids or know Kylee didn't go over to well, Ky started freaking out when she thought she had to get a "shot". The DR told her it would only be one little poke, which to me means they are going to poke her finger or something, yea I was wrong! The good thing is they don't have to do the grid tests anymore. We go to the lab at insta care, and wait in the little room, Kylee is okay at this point because she thinks it's only gonna be a "poke". Then the nurse comes in and me being so stupid sometimes, asks right in front of Kylee (duh i know), why do you have two vials? The nurse says " because this test, takes two vials of blood"! I was like "NO the DR said one poke,!" then it dawned on me, duh one poke, two vials of blood all done! At this point, kylee has started screaming no and has herself wrapped around my legs, I'm trying to calm her down, but she is border line hysterical, she's even forgot about the nummy sucker I gave her.
The nurse was really good, and was trying to explain everything she was going to do, but all Ky could do is cry and yell that she wanted her dad. So after about 10 or so minutes of that, the nurse got her calmed down enough to put the strap on her arm, as soon as that went on it started all over again, she started crying that it hurt, the nurse said you have to hold really still and it won't hurt except for just a "poke"! Hahaha, as soon as she stopped crying the nurse put the needle in her arm and kylee was screaming that it hurt, then she made the mistake of looking at her arm, that brought on a new wave of hysteria! She was screaming, "my blood, my blood!" As soon as the needle came out she was fine, but oh boy was she milking it for sympathy. She had the tape and gauze on her arm and was walking around with a stiff arm cuz she was afraid to move it, the people in the waiting room and at the pharmacy all played it up to make her fill better!
I asked her if she wanted to take off the tape and gauze and she got this real serious look on her face and said no mom! I asked her why but she wouldn't give me an answer, just a worried look. Then I asked her, are you afraid there will be a big hole in your arm from where the needle was? And that was exactly it! Kids are so cute! So we left it on and she went to her dads for the weekend.
All is well now, and we've actually already seen an improvement in her cough! I will keep you all posted when I find out about the allergy test, should have the results today or tomorrow.
