He's finally here!!!! After 40 weeks of pregnancy and 15 1/2 hours in the hospital, our little man made his big debut on Friday August 28th at 11:25 pm! At our last dr appointment (Tuesday morning) our Dr decided that it would be okay to induce me on Friday, so he said they would call us to set up the time to come to the hospital. Well Casey and I waited all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, and part of the day Thursday before calling, because we thought they actually called and set up a time for us to come in. Nope! We were basically on standby, since they didn't know how busy they would be and there were already two inductions scheduled before us, they said they could call anywhere between 8pm Thursday night and 5:30am Friday morning! Needless to say, Casey and I didn't sleep that well Thursday, both afraid we would miss the call to go to the hospital.
About 7am they called and said they were ready for us, so we kissed Kylee goodbye and headed for the hospital! Then we played the "hurry up and wait" game. We did all the paper work, got my I.V's started and then waited, finally about 10 am they gave me the first dose of Cytotec, (which helps to ripen your cervix), then we had to wait 4 hours! to be checked again. 4 hours later and.......nothing, so another dose of Cytotec and another 4 hours of waiting. By this time Casey was driving me nuts! He was bored and frustrated so I made him go take a walk. At 6:30 they checked me again and I was barely at a 2! What a long day, by then my contractions started becoming more constant and started hurting a bit more, so by 9 I asked for some pain meds. They gave me "Nubain", all it did was make me feel stoned, didn't really help with the contractions. At about 10ish, I could feel that the time was nearing for the epidural, Casey went and got the nurse and I was finally dilated to a 6. So in comes the dr with the "good" medicine and he proceeds to give me the epi. I think after I got that I had two maybe three contractions and my water broke and I was ready to push. Two and a half pushes later and out came our little man!!
7.5lbs and 18 1/2 inches of pure perfection! It still amazes me the instant love you feel, it's so overwhelming! Casey did a great job and did not show one sign of passing out, so hahaha to everyone who thought he might! Enough about that, here are some pics of our newest family member. Enjoy!
I love the fact that Casey is such an active participant in this whole thing, he doesn't just sit back and watch, it amazes me that this is the same man who had doubts about what kind of dad he would be, I just look at these pics and my heart just melts.
Brayden in the car seat on the way home from the hospital, he is so small!!! The car seat dwarfs him, and he does not like it one bit!!
