We made it

I don't know why any sane parent would actually go on a road trip with kids once they done it once! I believe we have the only baby in the world that doesn't sleep in the car. Since day 1 Brayden has not slept on car rides, and if he does fall asleep, it is usually right before we get to where we are going or right when we need to stop for gas!

We are in my home town again this weekend for my best friend, Shantell's, wedding. Usually it takes us a little over 8 hours to drive up here. This time we made it in 7 hours and that includes a 30 minute potty/dinner break in Ely. Casey decided we were going to take a different route to get here. Usually we go up through Tooele, Wendover, Wells, then on to Jackpot. But this time we went through Enterprise Utah, Pioche Nevada, and on to Ely, Wells then home to Jackpot. We left after Ky got out of school yesterday, so it was about 4pm and rolled into Jackpot about 11pm. Both kids were very good on the ride up, but that was in great part to the duel dvd players in the back seat! Brayden doesn't like to sit still for too long, so car rides are pure torture for him and he's not one to just sit and watch TV (unless it's Yo Gabba Gabba!) so we were pretty surprised when he only fussed a few times on the ride down.

Ky was the best big sister ever (like always) and put movies on that she thought would hold his attention, they watched a little of Bolt, a little of 101 Dalmatians, a bit of Fantasia, which held his attention for quite a while, but he does like music, dancing and animals. The movie that lasted the longest and had them both quite for almost two hours was............The rescuers down under----in German! That's right German, not sure how the language got messed up, but Kylee wanted to watch it even though she had no idea what they were saying, and I tell you what, we didn't hear a peep out of either child. It was so funny to look back and see them both zoned out on a cartoon that spoke a language they couldn't understand!

Both kids fell asleep right before we got to Wells, and of course we needed to stop for gas! Ky continued to snore, but Brayden woke up and wanted to know "wats dat" to everything he saw. We got back on the road and he fussed for about 5 minutes and was out again. So here we are, looking forward to a nice weekend with friends and family.

Casey and I are going to go see if we can find the kids their Halloween costumes and go to a movie for our Anniversary date! Thanks Mom for watching the kids so we can have some much needed "Mom and Dad" time!
